Looks like another big film for Allison. Also hearing that she is no longer part of the Showtime series, Shameless.

First she was Juno’s stepmom. Now she’ll be Skeeter’s mom. Dreamworks Studios has hired Emmy-winning actress Allison Janney to play Charlotte Phelan, the mother to heroine Skeeter Phelan, in the film adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel The Help.
Tate Taylor, a childhood friend of Stockett’s, is directing the adaptation from a script he wrote. Emma Stone (Zombieland) is set to star as aspiring writer Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan, while Viola Davis will play Aibileen. Octavia Spencer has been cast as Minnie, and Bryce Dallas Howard is set to play Hilly, Skeeter’s childhood friend and adult nemesis.
Janney, who most recently played a key character in one of the final episodes of Lost, is best known for her seven years on the award-winning television show The West Wing. She can next be seen in Todd Solondz’s new feature Life During Wartime and is also starring opposite Matthew Perry in the upcoming ABC series Mr. Sunshine.
The Help is filming this summer in Greenwood, Miss. and will open in theaters next year.

She also sent over a review of “Life During Wartime” giving HUGE praises for Allison.

Aiding the script are excellent performances, anchored by Allison Janney’s turn as Trish, the oldest of three sisters searching for peace of mind. Janney earned high praise and awards for her regular role on NBC’s The West Wing, and she’s one of the best things in otherwise dubious films (Away We Go, Juno). Without putting too fine a point on it, Janney is amazing in Life During Wartime, and deserves some major kudos for her performance. She’s simultaneously the most absurd and most compassionate character, as a troubled single mother trying to rebuild her family, even though her ex-husband is a convicted child molester. It’s not the stuff of easy comedy, or tragedy, but Janney finds the balance in every one of her scenes. See the film (which opens July 23 in theaters and VOD), and see what I’m talking about. So, is there a chance for Janney and the screenplay of Life During Wartime to get recognition for these achievements? As speculative as this may be, I hope so.
